A fresh take on one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular comic operas, this updated version of “The Pirates of Penzance” took  New York by storm when it premiered in Central Park in 1980. It is as wacky, irreverent and as entertaining today as it was when it first opened in 1879. Spinning an hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policeman, dim witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the often ridiculous dictates of honour and duty. The lusty pirates are both young and tender and old and toothless and the flirty ladies are all blushing buds of ever blooming beauty.

Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned over the last few days – the standard was very high and there were some tough decisions to make but ultimately we feel that we have a very strong cast indeed.

We also have an amazing Chorus following last night’s auditions and we know that there are a few who auditioned for Principal roles who were unable to attend last night and whilst we would still like to hear you please assume that you are in the Show.
